Governance proposals

Markets and assets can be added through governance, and network parameters, markets and assets all must be amended through governance as well.

Requirements

You must meet certain criteria before you can submit. Requirements may differ depending on the type of proposal.

You will typically need:

• A connected Vega wallet, with your wallet name and public key to hand
• A minimum amount of the network's governance tokens associated with that public key
• Familiarity with governance concepts

Network parameters are a constant (or an array of constants), the values of which can be changed by on-chain governance.

📄️ New asset

This page provides a tutorial for submitting a proposal for a new ERC-20 asset to be used as collateral. It describes what can be proposed, what you need to propose a new asset, and provides proposal templates that you will need to edit before submitting.

📄️ Update an asset

Some of the properties of an asset can be changed through governance. Those fields are: withdrawal and deposit limits, and the asset's quantum.

Network-managed accounts that allow transfers require the community to approve transferring assets out of them. You can also propose that those assets are used to fund trading rewards by including those details into the proposal.

The on-chain referral program allows users to refer new traders. Referrers can get a cut of their referees' trading fees, and referees get a discount on their fees. In addition, a referrer with governance tokens associated can multiply their rewards.

📄️ Enable or replace maker rebate program

When a high-volume maker rebate program is enabled, market makers can receive a rebate of a portion of their paid fees. The higher their maker volume across all markets over the program's window length, the greater the rebate that makers can receive.

When a volume discount program is enabled, traders can receive discounts on their fees. The higher their taker volume over the discount program's window length, the greater the discount traders can receive.

Freeform proposals allow the community to propose and vote on matters which don't change any network behaviour.
